4Bs Quilts Anticipated By Veterans

FM Quilters’ third donation of quilts to the Fargo VA Hospital were gratefully accepted for the use of veterans receiving in-patient treatment. The donation of 21 new quilts brings the total to 69 donated so far this year.

“They are very much appreciated,” said VA Service Specialist Steve Sanders. “They don’t have a lot of creature comforts here and [the vets] take their time unfolding and really looking them over to pick their favorite.” The quilts are given to the vets when they come to the hospital and go home with them after their treatment ends.

FM Quilters set a goal at the beginning of the year to make and donate 100 quilts to the VA Hospital. “We’re going to have to work to get 31 more quilts done to meet our goal but I think we can do it,” said Vice-President Muriel Richardson.

To help that happen, our September morning workshop will be pre-empted by a Quilt As You Go Sewing Bee to give members a chance to add to our final December donation. Sign up now and bring your sewing machines for an intense morning of sewing. If you’re not familiar with the technique, there will be tutors on hand to walk you through the process.

Fargo Moorhead Quilters Muriel Richardson, Kate Ulmer, Kendra Hull and Kathy Melaas deliver our recent donation of 21 new quilts to Steve Swanson. The quilt on top was made using the Christmas Block Exchange blocks that were donated back to the quild to make up a 4Bs Quilt.
