At our annual picnic meeting, there was fresh air, lovely sunshine and plenty of show and tell to go around.
Kathy Melaas made “Flowers In Bloom” table runner using bright colors to welcome spring.Kathy Melaas “Welcome To Spring” tablecloth used bright springy colors and a pattern from Three Yard Quilts.Pat Link’s sampler quilt “Red, White & Bloom” includes pieced, appliqued, and embroidered block with some three dimensional elements.A detail from Pat Link’s sampler quilt show fireflies that actually light up!Jennifr Lefor made Jagged Xs from a pattern from Jordan Fabrics and tested her tolerance of wonkiness. She said she learned if it’s not fun to sew it togther, square the blocks down was a key to success.Gay Gallas used a pattern from Lo and Behold Stitchery to create “Nightengale”.Connie Jones made “Daybreak” using patterns from Tula Pink for her daughter.Connie Jones original design of “Succulents” was made for her son who raises succulents.Char Grant’s quilt “Spring’s Around The Corner” used improv piecing technique and added trapunto to the tree trunks.Char Grant made “Metagoshe In The Fall” at a quilt retreat sponsored by the Minot Quilt Guild at the Lake Matagoshe Bible Camp.Debbie Richman’s “Weird Lily” art quilt required a lot of careful pattern matching to get the black and white fabric to fit perfectly together with the colored version of the fabric.Trish Jenning’s used blue and brown batiks to creat “Stick & Stones”.Trish Jennings created “Kitties Among Us” from an Accuquilt pattern.Aura Lee Mohror’s original design “It Was A Pleasure To Burn” was inspired by the first line in Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451. The flames are made using cover of books being banned today.Aura Lee Mohror’s “Woodland Friends” is made of sashed rectangles.Our newest member Sara Tron revealed she doesn’t actually quilt herself but loves the art. She showed off one of her mother’s quilts.
