FM Quilter Karla Rose Hanson passes on a tip to quilters who don’t like to use a thimble but want to protect their fingertips. She has acryllic nails and finds that she can use them for just about every hand sewing task. She even uses them for hand quilting. She does warn that using your nail to push needles through fabric is kind of tough on them, and will require replacing them earlier than normal during periods of heavy use.
