Congratulations to Bonnie Anderson, Colleen Carlson, Diane McCormack, and Barb Zeleznik who have been named finalists in the 2024 Cherrywood Challenge. All together 464 quilts were submitted to this year’s contest and these four FM Quilters were among those selected by the jury as finalists.
Every year Cherrywood Hand Dyed Fabrics issues a challenge to quilters to use their fabrics to create a 20 inch square art quilt with a theme and color pallette they select for the year. The 2024 challenge was “Poppy” and participants used a bundle of reds, blacks, and greens to complete their quilts. Quilts submitted to the contest must use only those fabrics.
As anyone who has worked with a limited palette knows, it requires mad design skills to create an art quilt with such specific restrictions. How exciting that four of our members were named finalists.
Photos of the quilts may not be published until after the winners are announced. We will post our quilters’ contributions when allowed to do so. To see quilts selected in previous challenges, visit the Cherrywood Challenge website.
