FM Quilter Carmen Nordback’s entry “Pretty Petals” was awarded a first place ribbon in the Small Wall Quilt: First Entry category at the American Quilt Society’s 2024 AQS Quilt Week in Paducah KY. Her quilt also received an Honorable Mention at the Road To California Quilters’ Conference and Showcase.
Carmen, who hails from Fargo, says in the description for her quilt “Flowers, appliqué and polka dots are just a few of my favorite things. My quilt was based on the pattern Aunt Millie’s Garden by Piece O’Cake Designs. I made the quilt my own by changing the border. I accomplished this by dividing the border fabrics with the vine and continuing the floral design around the whole quilt. The border was a bit of a challenge but I’m pleased with the result.”
Carmen, who is known for her beautiful applique work, constructed the top. Machine quilting was done by Becky Leitch of Ladyslipper Quilting in Barnesville, MN.
