Plains Art Museum | Color Improvisations 3

March 21 - August 23

The 42 large quits were created just for this traveling exhibit and curated by celebrated artist Nancy Crow, featuring quiltmakers from the US, Canada, and New Zealand. The quilts reflect a remarkable range of artistic voices, yet they share a common commitment to innovation. Viewers will encounter bold compositions, daring palettes, and meticulous craftsmanship that push the boundaries of the medium. The exhibit toured in Germany in 2024. Its North American debut was at the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, NE, in 2025. The exhibit opens March 21st and will be on display through August 23rd.

Admission to Plains Art Museum is FREE thanks to support from Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program; the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts; The Arts Partnership, with support from the Cities of Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo; the McKnight Foundation; the FUNd at Plains Art Museum; Giving Hearts Day donors; and Plains Art Museum members and donors.
