Metro Quilt Expo 2022

Covid 19 made a lot of changes in the world and one of the saddest for our group was having to postpone our yearly quilt show not once, not twice, but thrice! We were all thrilled to finally be able to enjoy getting together for quilt viewing, shopping with vendors, fundraising and quilting camaraderie.

The 2022 Metro Quilt Expo displays showcased 208 quilts from bed sized to table runners and everything in between.

It was a beautiful show! Lots of talent and variety of designs.

More than 1,200 quilt enthusiasts attended the two day show at the Hilton Garden Suites in Fargo. Many who attended were tremendously enthusiastic about both the show and its new location. We were pleased to host 12 vendors offering the latest in quilting fabric, tools, and machines in the ballroom and lobby. Much shopping opportunity was to be had.

It sounds like we’re having the best kind of party in the ballroom!

In addition to the quilt show, two of our signature fundraising projects were very successful. The yearly silent quilt auction raised $1,240 which will be used to fund our outreach projects for the year.

In addition to our silent auction, we instituted a new fundraising project. Members of the Fargo Moorhead Quilters donate themed baskets of supplies that appeal to quilters. Some baskets were put together with new quilters in mind. Others were intended to encourage quilters to explore new techniques. The basket which garnered the most tickets was themed for ironing & pressing! All together the 19 baskets raised $2,746 which help in launching new projects this year.

Thank you for the time and effort you put in on the Quilt Expo. It was a wonderful show.

A show the size and complexity of the Metro Quilt Expo is not an easy undertaking. The three days it took for intake, judging, and hanging the show required 382.5 hours of volunteer time. During the two days the show was open, an additional 245.5 hours were invested by volunteers. And behind the scenes, more that 523 hours went into planning and preparations in the year leading up to the show. That means the 120 members of Fargo Moorhead Quilters spend nearly 1,100 hours putting together this year’s excellent show.n

“This was a great show! So happy to get to see all this beauty in one room (and the shopping was fun too). Thank you Fargo Moorhead Quilters!”
