June Education is Free!
Discharge Dyeing Demonstration
When: 9 am on Saturday, June 17
Where: Main Shelter in Lindenwood Park, south Fargo
What to bring: Protective clothing, fabric or clothing to experiment on

One thing you can do to make patterns on or alter dyed fabrics is referred to as DISCHARGING. There are several chemicals that will remove dye from fabrics, and we will work with 2 of them.
Whether you have dyed the fabric yourself, or are using a purchased solid color, it is always a mystery what color will remain after discharging! Testing in a corner is recommended!
Kim Baird will have samples to share, and will demonstrate a few possible methods on cotton, silk and wool.
As time allows, you will be able to experiment on fabrics you bring. Black or other dark colored cotton T-shirts are fun to use. Kim will have the various bleaching agents and rubber gloves, plus stencils, rubber stamps, and other useful tools.
Warning: If you don’t want to go home with white spots on your clothes, wear some kind of protection!
NO CHARGE for this demonstration, registration is not required
