In Memorium

We note with sadness the passing of three long time members of FM Quilters.

Bergliot (Bergie) Herstad Turmo died on May 18 at Sheyenne Crossing Nursing Home in West Fargo. Bergie had a beautiful soprano singing voice and was active in the opera company in Fargo and in her church choir. She also loved pets and had several dogs and cats over the years which brought her much joy. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and possessed tons of fabric and many sewing machines.

A private service has been held.

Loretta “Nadine” Fiddler, 84, passed away on July 6 at Eventide in Moorhead. Nadine was an enthusiastic quilter and an active member of our Guild. She served as a member at large on the Board, headed up a creative Challenge, and was always ready to volunteer for the quilt show and other projects. She enjoyed Saturday meetings until recent months when health issues and declining mobility hindered her from coming. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 19th.

Mary Ann Waxler, 95, passed away on July 13 at Sheyenne Crossings. Over the forty plus years of Guild membership, she served in many capacities including teaching classes, writing a newsletter column (as well as drawing cartoons) and serving as president. Many of her quiltswere hand stitched and original designs. Her willingness to be involved, her creativity, and her sense of humor were unsurpassed. More about Mary Ann and her quilting career is posted on the website fmquilters.org. A funeral mass was held on July 26 in Casselton.

Our heartfelt sympathies to the families of Bergie, Nadine and Mary Ann.
