Coming Up This Winter at FM Quilters Meetups

The weather outside isn’t so much frightful at the moment but winter is coming (isn’t it?) so we’ve cooked up some great programs to give you a good reason to get out of the house in the deep midwinter.

In January, our morning education class is Fabric Covered Rope Bowls taught by Sara Sunderlin. There are still a few seats available. Sara will also present the afternoon program “A Day in the Life of an Art & Design+ student @NDSU” the program she teaches at NDSU to our future sewists and designers–and maybe future quilters.

In February, Claire Tinjum will teach a morning workshop on how to make Fabric Postcards. You can register online or at our January Meetup. The afternoon program will be presented by a panel of members of the Red River Machine Quilters with advice on how to prepare your quilt for long arm quilting.

Coming up in March, the morning workshop will introduce you to the rebellious art of crazy quilting with a new workshop “Crazy Quilting 101“. You’ll learn how to foundation piece the background blocks and some basic embroidery stitches to begin your embellishing. In the afternoon, Kim Baird will present a program on “The Lasting Appeal of Quilt Myths.” Have you wondered if the stories of quilts marking stops along the Underground Railroad are true? Get the inside scoop.
